D2D #58: The Teacher (1974, Howard [Hikmet] Avedis)

(Featured in Dusk to Dawn #1 and Dusk to Dawn #8.)

I’m a red-blooded American male. I recognize that Angel Tompkins, in the ’70s, had terrific breasts. I don’t have a problem with constructing a narrative around those breasts that posits said mammalian protruberances as life-changing, confidence-building agents of light and goodness - motivational jugs, if you will. But if you fill up the non-breast-related portions of your film with the dull, flatly paced travails of that drippy shlub who, once upon a time, was Dennis the Menace on television, then you’ll have to excuse me if I wish I’d taken a pass on your 42nd-Street slot-plugger. Not even memorably dreadful, just kind of vaguely there.
